Don't worry,be happy!

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness...2nd Cor. 12:9

My husband has the pleasure (ahem) of traveling quite often. Many times,it's by airplane. This weekend,he'll be going on yet another long flight on his way to Afghanistan. Every time he leaves,I remind him to sleep on the airplane as much as possible.

"I can't sleep on an airplane, you know that!" He says (every.single.time)

And,every.single.time, I say,'why not,that's a long time to go without sleeping!?'

The fact is,he's afraid that if he falls asleep, something might happen. Well,I said,if the plane is going to go down,it's going to happen whether you're awake or not. You have no control over the situation!

The other day,I was having some quiet time with the Lord, reading through Crazy Love, when I say this little tidbit.

Worry implies that we don't quite trust that God is BIG enough,POWERFUL enough or LOVING enough to take care of what's happening in our lives.- Francis Chan,Crazy Love

Wow! That really opened a tender spot in my heart. 30 soldiers from Fort Campbell,KY have been Killed In Action in Afghanistan recently. I could spend my time while he's gone worrying and wondering what's going to happen to him. If I did that, though, what is my message to the Almighty?

I don't trust you,I need to worry about this.

That fact is, God already knows exactly what's going to happen while he's in Afghanistan and my worrying about it won't change the outcome one bit. Pretty powerful, huh?

So,while he's gone,I am not going to worry about him. I am not going to wake up in fear every morning. I am not going to watch CNN 24/7. I am not going to be anxious about parenting alone for the entire year.

I am going to give it to God.

I browsed around and found a few scriptures that I thought applied to worry/fear that I wanted to share in case you're facing something you are worried about.

Psalm 34:4 - I sought the Lord and he heard me and delivered me from my fears.

Psalm 46:2- Therefore will not we fear, though the Earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea.

Pslam 55:22 Cast your burden upon the Lord and he shall sustain you....

PS-Is it any coincidence that while I was writing this,Joel Osteen came on and his message was about God giving us Grace for all the seasons of our lives? I think not.
